FUTURISMI PODCAST 24 – Pure Ground

Written by Futurismi

“Rather than make a traditional club-style DJ mix, Pure Ground are presenting here a selection of twenty-five songs by artists we hold in high regard that we enjoy as “home listening”. Giftgarten, our new LP that this mix has been assembled to promote, is one we consider to be best enjoyed at home, in private. While many of the songs on this mix, and on our LP, could function as dance tracks for club play, the majority presented here are not, and it is these artists that inspire us the most, if not as an immediate influence for the group Pure Ground, than as songs we feel most moved by as individuals. We hope you enjoy these 100 minutes of music spanning many styles, periods, and nations, as much as we do. Thanks.”

We are glad to present, for our 24th podcast episode, Pure Ground, a minimal industrial/wave duo, formed in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2012.

To date, Pure Ground has released two LPs, four cassettes, three vinyl singles and a 20 minutes VHS. Their next full-length LP, Giftgarten, will be released on LP (Avant! [EU], Chondritic Sound [US]) and CD (Sleepless Berlin) on September 1st, 2016 to coincide with their third tour of Europe.
The mix explores themes of present-day dystopian realities and the eventual triumph of the natural world over a human civilization in rapid decline. It’s a dark soundtrack of our times, based on hard electronics, old school electro industrial EBM and rhythmic noise with true wave/post punk spirit.

Here’s a note from Pure Ground to accompany our mix:
“Rather than make a traditional club-style DJ mix, Pure Ground are presenting here a selection of twenty-five songs by artists we hold in high regard that we enjoy as “home listening”. Giftgarten, our new LP that this mix has been assembled to promote, is one we consider to be best enjoyed at home, in private.
